A year after a chance encounter, struggling writers Emmett Shelby and Jess Spencer are fatefully reunited as Emmett introduces Jess to his extended circle of friends and family: sister Daisy, her boyfriend Barney, their landlord Hugh, and Daisy's eccentric agent Jenny. As the group grow closer and face the ups-and-downs of life, they come to rely on one another in ways only a family would truly understand.
